About Dokterly

Dokterly is a web app that prepares Indonesian medical graduates for UKNPDPD, the national competency exam they must pass before they can practise.

How did Dokterly start?

Dokterly is the team's second company. The first, Pikira, built an AI learning platform for schools.

We built Pikira closely with a teacher at one school, presented it to that school's leadership, and pitched it in person to three schools in all. Selling to schools turned out to be much harder than building for them: state schools buy through slow bureaucracy, and we had no connections into private schools.

Universitas Indonesia's student entrepreneurship programme, P2MW, did not select Pikira, so we kept building it without funding and went online. Our SEO brought in many high-intent visits, and teachers and students from six schools used the app, but none of that activity turned into paying customers, and running it was costing us money. We shut Pikira down and took what we had learned about AI tutoring to medical graduates, who prepare for one high-stakes exam and pay for their own preparation.

Who runs Dokterly?

Dokterly is built and operated by PT Pikira Labs Indonesia, a company registered in Indonesia and based in Tangerang, Banten.

What does Dokterly do?

Dokterly gives a candidate practice questions, full mock exams and OSCE practice in one app, and shows which parts of the syllabus are pulling their score down.

  • Practice questions by topic, with the key and the reasoning behind every option.
  • Timed mock exams in the format of the real CBT, graded against the pass mark and broken down by tinjauan.
  • OSCE practice with a simulated patient the candidate talks to.
  • Answers to follow-up questions about an explanation, and flashcards and questions made from the candidate's own lecture notes.

Who is Dokterly for?

Final-year clinical students and graduates in Indonesia preparing for UKNPDPD, including candidates retaking it. Our roadmap extends Dokterly to preclinical students, so they can start preparing years before the exam.
